Das Meterspur-Netz der Royal Cambodian Railways umfasst gut 600km Strecke. Mit Beginn des B\u00fcrgerkrieges 1975 wurde der Bahnverkehr auf Grund der Sch\u00e4den an der Infrastruktur sehr bald eingestellt. In den 80er Jahren begann man die Infrastruktur wieder aufzubauen und es verkehrten auch wieder Z\u00fcge. Entgegen gewissen Hinweisen im Internet verkehrt auf dem Gleis in Battambang sicher kein Zug mehr. Auf sog. Bambuswagen (Bamboo Train) wurden zuerst mit Muskelkraft mit Bambusstangen die Wagen vorangebracht. Sp\u00e4ter wurden kleine Benzinmotoren benutzt. Zur Bl\u00fctezeit sollen bis zu 1000 solcher Bambuswagen unterwegs gewesen sein.<\/p>\n<p>In Battambang konnten wir eine kurze Fahrt auf einem Streckenabschnitt von 6km machen. An vielen Orten fehlen die Schienenlaschen und eine Federung ist in diesen Bambuswagen nicht vorhanden. Ob er 2015 auch noch fahren wird, h\u00e4ngt nun vom Tempo der Erneuerung der Bahninfrastruktur ab. Man sollte sich also vorab in Battambang erkundigen. Die Zeit des Bamboo Train geht aber zu Ende.<\/p>\n<p>Wir setzten unsere Reise fort zum Wat Banan. Auf einem H\u00fcgel steht ein Tempel aus dem 10.Jhr.
